Alpine Walks

Looking for a great day out off the slopes? We highly recommend joining Vaujany’s expert snowshoe guide for a peaceful and scenic adventure through the mountains. At a gentle pace, you’ll have a better chance of spotting local wildlife such as chamois and chevreuils, all while soaking in the stunning alpine views.

Whether you're a first-time snowshoer or a seasoned hiker, the guide will tailor each outing to suit your level, ensuring an unforgettable experience with a new itinerary every day.  There's even night walks available for a magical twist on the mountain landscape

The price includes guiding only, purchase of a cable car pass and the snowshoes hire dependant on itinerary. Don't forget walking boots, gloves, sunglasses and sticks!

Cross Country Skiing

Escape the Crowds & Rediscover the Joy of Skiing 

Easy to learn and excellent for fitness, cross-country skiing (also known as Nordic skiing) offers a peaceful alternative to downhill pistes. With mostly flat trails, you can go as fast or slow as you like—making it ideal for all energy levels and abilities.

Alpe d’Huez boasts around 50km of groomed cross-country routes, suitable for both classic style (in parallel tracks) and skating style. Highlights include:

• Brandes Loop – near the altiport, perfect for beginners
• Poutran Loop – a scenic 10km blue trail Loop of the
• Lakes – a challenging 20km red circuit

These trails are easily accessible via the ski lifts from Oz or Vaujany.

Whether you're seeking solitude, gentle exercise, or a break from busy slopes, cross-country skiing offers a tranquil way to explore the mountains and soak in the alpine beauty.

If you have a vehicle at hand then there are lots of other little resorts dotted around.

Dog Sledging

If you’d love to explore the mountain scenery without strapping on skis or a snowboard, why not try a Nordic adventure with a team of huskies? Offered in Alpe d’Huez, this beautiful and relaxing experience takes you through pedestrian trekking paths and scenic lookout points, all while guided by the rhythm of your sled dogs.

You’ll be taught how to command the dogs using classic phrases—yes, even the iconic “Mush!” - and can choose to either sit back in the sled or take the reins yourself. Just be sure to hold on tight!

This is a very popular non-skiing activity, so we recommend booking at least 48 hours in advance.

Snowmobile rides

Experience high-altitude thrills at 2100m, starting from the PIC BLANC 2, mid-station in Alpe d’Huez. If you love speed and adventure, riding a powerful snowmobile - think motorbike with caterpillar tracks, it's an exhilarating way to explore the mountains.

Enjoy the full spectrum of alpine driving: carving turns, accelerating across open straights, and tackling ascents and descents. Snowmobiles offer a unique way to discover Alpe d’Huez, especially when the resort is at its most peaceful.

Venture into the pristine snowfields near Lac Besson, guided by your own instructor. You can choose to ride solo or share the experience - just remember to wrap up warmly, especially for evening outings, and bring goggles if there’s fresh powder.

Ice Museum of Wonders

Each winter, a magical ice grotto is sculpted anew at 2700m, with a fresh theme that transforms the space into a shimmering museum of frozen art. Located at the top of the DMC gondola, it’s a must-see attraction for all ages.

Admission is just €3–€6, and tickets can also be purchased in combination with your lift pass—making it easy to include in your day on the mountain.

Paragliding

If you’ve never tried paragliding before, or aren’t quite sure what it involves - Alpe d’Huez is a fantastic place to take flight. Known locally as “parapente”, this exhilarating activity is supported by several clubs and organisations whose sole mission is to get you airborne safely and confidently.

Whether it’s your first time or something you’ve always wanted to try, there’s no better moment than during your Ski Peak holiday.

For even more paragliding adventures, head to Venosc, just 40 minutes away at the base of Les Deux Alpes, where additional flight experiences await

Sky Dive

Jump out of a plane and free fall above the clouds and above the snow capped mountains.  It's an adrenaline rush like no other.  Please note that the weather forecast must be sunny with little wind.

Wine & Cheese tasting

Enjoy a relaxed and flavourful evening in the comfort of your chalet with Lisa, our charming wine enthusiast based in Alpe d’Huez. She offers a delightful tasting experience tailored for groups, featuring a curated selection of local wines and cheeses.

Sessions last around one hour, with a per-person charge, and include expert insights, tasting tips, and plenty of alpine character. It’s the perfect way to unwind after a day on the slopes and discover the region’s culinary gems.

Cinema

The Vaujany cinema can seat 134 people.  It shows a variety of new and old films and is open to locals and holidaymakers in search of a little escape, culture and a good time. Head there with your family or friends for an intimate experience.

From ancient ingenuity to cutting-edge innovation, discover how water has been harnessed as a powerful source of energy. Home to France’s most powerful hydroelectric station, this remarkable site showcases the evolution of science and technology that has shaped both the region’s development and its cultural heritage.

It’s a fascinating blend of natural force and human engineering, offering insight into the vital role hydroelectricity plays in powering communities and preserving the environment.

Memory Museum - 100 Years of Vaujany’s story

Step into the heart of Vaujany’s past at the Memory Museum, where a century of local history is brought to life through the voices of its inhabitants.

This intimate exhibition offers a first-hand account of how the village has evolved, navigating population shifts, economic  challenges, and the transformation of its landscape. Alpine Wildlife & Minerals Museum - Bourg d'Oisans

Nestled beneath the eaves of the St Laurent Church, this unique museum invites you to explore the largest collection of alpine minerals in France. The star of the show is a breathtaking specimen of quartz from the renowned La Gardette mine, considered among the most beautiful in the world. Alongside it, an exceptional array of minerals showcases the rich mineralogical heritage of the Oisans region.

The museum also features a captivating zoological section, displaying over 140 Alpine species in remarkably lifelike settings. Each animal is presented in a detailed re-creation of its natural habitat, offering an immersive glimpse into the region’s biodiversity. This exhibition is proudly produced in partnership with the Écrins National Park
