Lifts re-open July 3rd and until August 29th you have access to an incredible 250kms of MTB / VTT tracks on 36 circuits. This includes the unbelievable, death defying 32kms of non-stop downhill tracks on the Megavalanche circuit, the longest in the world.
This year the cable car will be running three times an hour the WHOLE summer!
The slopes opposite Vaujany have now become the firm venue for the French Four Cross and Trial Championships aka the Mondial du VTT testament to just how good these tracks have become. The three days of death-defying riding make great viewing and when the champs clear out; why not test yourself on the top tracks for France mountain biking?
Thanks to its fantastic lift system, Vaujany links in perfectly to the Alpe d’Huez MTB circuit. You can jump on the big, fast queue-less cable car every morning and in no time find yourself faced with a mind boggling selection of downhill thrills to choose from.
Vaujany is starting to establish itself on the free ride map. This summer, the highly rated German mountain bike manufacturer ROSE selected Vaujany as an ideal base for its Alpine test centre and opened a shop and rental post right by the lift station. After providing some hugely popular, incredible bikes they return in 2011.
More lifts more often! Last year’s experiment of running the Vaujany cable car 3 times an hour during the Megavalanche week proved very successful and really helped put Vaujany firmly on the MTB map. This year then – more of the same! BUT – the lifts now run all summer long three times per hour for incredible access.
Last year the Vaujany local MTB enthusiasts lead by Stief of Stief’ Bar fame, made considerable improvements to track no 24 - Montfrais link. It now goes down to Vaujany via Roche Mellon making it much more accessible to a wider MTB level range. Further improvements are on the cards.
The Alpe d’Huez/Grandes Rousses Massif of which Vaujany is a part is made up of:
Rose manufacturers of TOP OF THE RANGE mountain and road bikes LOVES Vaujany. They came here last year, rented a few of their best MTB bikes to the public at knock down prices, whilst putting their new lines through their paces on the challenging tracks above. This year they return with even more MTB and road bikes. Unlike other hire shops with Ski Peak and Rose you are getting state of the art, beautifully maintained bikes.
